Psychoeducational Evaluation

R.E.A.D. Evaluation and Dyslexia Center™ provides full and individual evaluations for struggling learners. Services include consultations with parents, comprehensive evaluations for specific learning disabilities, including but not limited to dyslexia, dysgraphia, and related disorders, and a full written report identifying a child’s strengths and weaknesses and recommendations.

Professional Services

What is included?

● Information is gathered from various sources including parents, clients, and/or teachers (if permitted) to determine specific concerns and assessment needs. This process may include conducting phone interviews, reviewing work samples, and/or providing questionnaires to obtain information regarding developmental, social, academic, medical, mental health, and academic histories.

● A Comprehensive Psychoeducational Evaluation includes:

  • Individual, norm-referenced testing tailored to concerns. (Testing instruments are determined by age and educational needs and take approximately 2-4 hours.)

  • Assessment of the student’s intellectual/cognitive abilities (IQ), including verbal comprehension, fluid reasoning, visual-spatial processing, working memory, and processing speed abilities. Additional areas of cognition may be evaluated based on needs.

  • Assessment of language skills, including listening comprehension and oral expression

  • Assessment of academic skills may include, but not limited to: basic reading, phonological awareness, orthographic competence, reading fluency, reading comprehension, spelling, written expression, handwriting, math calculation, and math problem solving. (Academic areas tested will be determined based on needs.)

● A detailed, written report to include:

  • An interpretation/summary of each test administered

  • A description of the child’s level of functioning

  • Documentation of condition(s) based on the clinical findings, if applicable

  • Individualized recommendations designed to address your child’s unique pattern of strengths and weaknesses

● Post-evaluation session with the parents and/or student to review the results of the evaluation, discuss clinical findings, and to provide parents with information and instructional recommendations to help make educational decisions for their child.
